HOW DOES UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE VALUE COMPARE WITH OTHER HEALTH CARE SHARING PROGRAMS’ COST?

United Refuah HealthShare is the first and ONLY Jewish based health care sharing organization. This is important because now Jewish Americans may join a Health Sharing organization without making representations which are contrary to their faith beliefs.

The founders of United Refuah designed it with the unique characteristics of the American Jewish population in mind. The goal was to be the best health care sharing organization for its members, which doesn’t necessarily mean the lowest monthly contribution.  The founders have taken  the best of other health care sharing organizations and discarded the elements that should be eliminated in order to provide the best value for the members.  The best health care sharing organization does more than allow for low monthly share amounts: It brings like-minded members together to share their eligible medical expenses, and it provides the members with the tools necessary to maintain and improve their health, as well as navigate the medial provider systems, for cost effective and quality medical services. That’s what we do at United Refuah Health Share.

In addition to facilitate the sharing of medical expenses, United Refuah assists its members in keeping medical needs low by having them become healthy and stay healthy.  We do this for all members, by the following methods:

  1. Health Assistance
  2. Access
  3. Advice

1 – We are Health focused – Our members are best served if the eligible medical needs our members are lower; therefore we exert significant effort to get our members healthier and keep them healthy.  Every adult member completes a health profile assessment, and an initial encounter conversation with a Registered Nurse.  From there, every member works with our nurse to set their own health goals.  Then every member is assigned a health coach to help them realize their health goals.  Through health-coaching, the membership becomes healthier which drives down medical costs and saves everyone money. This model of getting members healthy to lower their medical costs is the a far-sighted and discerning approach rarely found in the health care system or  health care sharing.  The eligible medical expenses shared by all members should be lower, and each member should experience savings in their unshared responsibility over time.

2 – Access:  Every member has access to a doctor 24 / 7 through a telehealth platform that all members are encouraged to use, as needed, which saves members’ time and money. Every time Telehealth is used instead of any other means of taking care of a medical problem, the average savings in eligible medical expenses is $250 plus the time you save.   United Refuah also includes access to Mental Health services.  URHS offers 10 visits for mental health per year, whether through a walk-in clinic or through the Telehealth option. We believe it is important to offer this mental health benefit because mental illness and stress are some of the leading causes of disease and higher health costs.  This insight and approach to mental health is unique to United Refuah Health Share; we are the only health share to provide it.

3 – Advice: We provide a medical concierge service for our members.  Whether you are looking for a GI specialist, or need advice on where to get the lowest cost for an MRI, or when calling in for sharing of medical needs services, our Advice team will assist you with any and all those questions.  No other health sharing organization has this level of Advice services which focuses on holding down the member’s costs while providing excellent service.  Navigating the health care system, with nontransparent prices and confusing choices can be difficult; United Refuah provides advice to its members.  Note: United Refuah does not limit members to a limited network of providers.  All members can see any Provider they choose.

Bottom Line Value:  What is your health worth?  That is the question that has to be asked.  Is the cheapest car the best car?  In addition to facilitating the sharing of eligible medical expenses, United Refuah is also concerned with Improving your health and keeping you healthy. Your health is the true value of a membership in United Refuah Health Share.  When you are healthy, life is better (and cheaper).

ARE MONTHLY CONTRIBUTIONS REQUIRED FOR MEMBERSHIP EVEN IF I DON’T HAVE ANY OF MY OWN MEDICAL EXPENSES?

Yes. Your monthly payment will depend on your membership type (single, couple, or family), the number of persons in your family and your level of participation in WellCheck℠ if needed. Each month, your monthly payment will be placed into your Refuah ShareFund, less a nominal administrative fee, which is shared with other members that have medical bills regardless if you have any medical expenses of your own. Giving consistently each month will allow you to be eligible to have your medical bills shared with other members. To determine your monthly contribution amount, please refer to the ‘Program Summary’ menu choice under the “United Refuah Program” tab.

ARE PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS ELIGIBLE FOR SHARING?

A pre-existing condition is any condition at the time of enrollment that has evidenced symptoms or received treatment or medication in the past 36 months. We share in pre-existing conditions according to the following schedule:

  • First year of membership:        Not eligible for sharing
  • Second year of membership:   Up to $25,000 is eligible
  • Third year of membership:      Up to $25,000 is eligible
  • Fourth year and following of continuous membership: the condition is no longer considered pre-existing.

For some pre-existing conditions, United RefuahSM may require a permanent waiver, so that a condition is never eligible for sharing, even though the applicant becomes a member.

ONCE I JOIN, AM I REQUIRED TO REMAIN A MEMBER FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME?

No, you are not required to be a member for a certain amount of time. You can withdraw your membership at any time. When you  join, you will be required to pay an Initial Enrollment Fee of $125, which will entitle you to a Sharing Membership for the first year upon payment of your monthly contribution. If you decide to withdraw membership, you will become an inactive member. Please note that if you decide to withdraw membership mid-month, you will be considered a member until the end of that month (no partial month refund).  After the first 60 days, if you withdraw membership and rejoin within any 12 month period, you will be required to pay an additional Enrollment Fee.

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY FOR THE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE AND MONTHLY CONTRIBUTIONS?

If any family member on your application is not eligible to join United Refuah HealthShareSM, the application may be totally withdrawn and the Initial Enrollment Fee will be refunded in full.  You may choose to continue membership without the ineligible person, and there will be no refund of the Initial Enrollment Fee.

After acceptance, if one or more family members is/are required to participate in WellCheckSM Assist or WellCheckSM Support all members of the family may withdraw and receive a one-half (1/2) refund of the Initial Enrollment Fee and up to the first two monthly contributions if no medical bills have been shared.

At any time during the first sixty (60) days of membership, withdrawal is permitted and the monthly contributions, if no medical bills have been paid, will be refunded.  There is no refund of the Initial Enrollment Fee, except as stated above.  Withdrawal of membership after the first 60 days of membership will not entitle you to a refund of any membership fees or past monthly contributions. No further monthly contributions will be due.

HOW DO I KNOW MY MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE BEING USED PROPERLY?

Accountability and financial integrity are critical components of United Refuah HealthShare℠. The financial model of  United Refuah is one of transparency and accountability to our membership and governing board. The integrity and trust of our members is at the core of United Refuah.  We maintain the integrity of your monthly payments by being transparent with its users via the Monthly Share Amounts.

  • Members receiving funds for medical expenses will be able to monitor their application and accounting by United Refuah HealthShare℠ to make certain those funds are used only to pay medical expenses.
  • The payment amount that is used for administration purposes is subject to ongoing internal and  regular auditing.
  • Last and most important, with the exception of the administrative fee and WellCheck fees, United Refuah HealthShare℠ does not own any of the remaining funds. They are held for you in your Refuah ShareFund to share with other members

We will take every reasonable precaution to ensure that funds are used appropriately and ethically, in line with the principles outlined in the Sharing Guidelines.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE?

Members of our organization believe that our bodies are gifts from G-d and that we must respect and care for our physical bodies to the best of our ability. Furthermore, we believe that there is an ethical obligation to the United Refuah community and to our fellow members to follow healthy living habits and to keep medical costs down.  As a community, there is an underlying expectation that we live according to this philosophy.  In general, healthy lifestyle requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Abstaining from tobacco/nicotine use in any form.
  • Follow biblical teachings on the use of alcohol.
  • Avoid abuse of prescription drugs, which means consuming prescription medications in a manner not intended by the prescriber, or that would likely result in harm or dependency.
  • Abstaining from the use of illegal drugs, including, but not limited to, hallucinogenic substance, barbiturates, amphetamines, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, illegal intravenous drugs or narcotics.
  • Exercising regularly and eat healthy foods that are complementary to the body.

DO I NEED TO COMPLETE A HEALTH SCREENING IN ORDER TO BE APPROVED FOR MEMBERSHIP?

Applicants are required to complete a Health Questionnaire for each family member within the application and enrollment process.  This form provides information needed to determine whether each person in the family is eligible for membership.

For applicants who are accepted as members, there will be a follow-up Health Profile Assessment, which will need to be completed by adult members.  The results of the Health Profile Assessment will be shared with the member.  It will also be shared with the member’s physician if the member so requests.  The Health Profile Assessment will determine if an individual needs to become a member of WellCheckSM Assist or WellCheckSM Support, and provides valuable information for preserving and improving one’s health.  Remember, once again, that the goal of our organization is to keep you and your family healthy.

Individuals who qualify for our medical cost-sharing program but who have certain pre-existing conditions that can be improved through lifestyle changes will be enrolled in WellCheckSM Assist or WellCheckSM Support. This program is mandatory for those individuals and serves to assist members to improve their health and to reduce the chances of developing or worsening any serious disease. There is an additional monthly fee for the WellCheckSM Assist or WellCheckSM Support program.

All decisions for membership approval are made in consultation with the prospective member and are based upon medical and lifestyle information obtained from the member and medical records.

WHAT IF I AM UNABLE TO MAKE A MONTHLY PAYMENT?

Members are required to make their payment by the 28th day of the month preceding the Sharing Month. If payment is not received by the 5th day of the Sharing Month, payment will be considered late, but membership will remain active. If the member is unable to complete the payment by the 5th day of the Sharing Month, then their Sharing Membership status will be changed to inactive. A member will be able to reactivate his membership if it is inactive for less than 60 days by paying in full the inactive month(s’) payment(s). Medical expenses incurred during inactive membership will not be eligible for sharing even if the membership is changed back to active in a subsequent month.

For more information, see Sharing Guidelines.

HOW DO I LET MY PROVIDER OR HOSPITAL KNOW THAT I AM A MEMBER OF UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠?

You can let a provider or hospital know by explaining that you are self-pay, but part of a health-sharing community known as  “United Refuah HealthShare℠” whom will share the eligible medical expenses. Your member ID card will have the information that the provider of facility need to submit the bills for service. Simply present your card at visits, and most providers will scan or copy it for reference.

HOW DO I MAKE SURE MY PROCEDURE(S) ARE PAID FOR?

Each member will have a “Refuah ShareFund” which is a funds exchange account. Each month, United Refuah HealthShare℠ transfers your monthly share amount directly to other member’s ” Refuah ShareFunds”  where eligible medical needs exist. When you have medical bills that are eligible for sharing and United Refuah HealthShare℠ has all funds accounted for to cover your expenses, United Refuah HealthShare℠ will send a check directly to your provider. You will get an Explanation of Sharing, which will outline how it has been paid.

DO I HAVE A CO-PAY OR DEDUCTIBLE?

United Refuah HealthShare℠ does not have deductibles or co-pays. Each member has an Annual Preshare Amount, which varies per membership type. Once the member has surpassed the Annual Preshare Amount, United Refuah HealthShare℠ will share 80% of eligible medical bills up to the threshold explained below. Once this threshold has been reached, United Refuah will share 100% of all eligible medical bills.

Each pregnancy has an additional Pregnancy Fee of $1,500 for Couple and Family members and $2,500 for a Single (married woman) member.

United Refuah also has a Maximum Co-Share Amount per Sharing Year, based on the membership type as follows:

  • $2,000 for a single
  • $4,000 for a couple
  • $8,000 for a family

Therefore, in addition to your enrollment fee, monthly contributions, and WellCheck fees (if applicable) the maximum expenses that can incurred in a year are your Annual PreShare, Maximum Annual Co-Share, and Pregnancy Fee.

Single:     $500 (Annual PreShare) + $2000 (Maximum Annual Co-Share) + $2500 (Pregnancy Fee) = $5000

Couple: $1000 (Annual PreShare) + $4000 (Maximum Annual Co-Share) + $1500 (Pregnancy Fee) = $6500

Family:  $1500 (Annual PreShare) + $8000 (Maximum Annual Co-Share) + $1500 (Pregnancy Fee) = $11,000

IF MY MEDICAL BILLS ARE INELIGIBLE FOR SHARING AND I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE DECISION, WHAT DO I DO?

STEP ONE:

Make a call to our member service line to get clarification and to understand the decision and why it was made. There can always be differences of opinion or a misunderstanding that is easily reconciled. Most disputes can be resolved with a simple phone call. If you disagree with a decision, always call and one of our helpful representatives will work with you to reach an agreeable resolution.

STEP TWO:

Follow the “DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND APPEALS” process outlined in the Guidelines (see section. XIII.)

Regardless of the outcome, please remember who and what we are. United Refuah HealthShare℠ is a voluntary association of like-minded people who have come together to assist each other by sharing medical expenses. Such a sharing and caring association does not lend itself well to the mentality of legally enforceable rights.

CAN I HAVE MEDICAL INSURANCE WHILE BEING ENROLLED IN UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠?

Yes! In fact, many participants have insurance through work or another source. In those cases where money is still owed after insurance makes its payments, United Refuah HealthShare℠ will share the balance, in the same manner as other medical bills are shared.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AMOUNT IN MEDICAL BILLS I AM ALLOWED TO SUBMIT FOR SHARING?

MINIMUM: Once you’ve paid your Annual Preshare Amount, there is no minimum.

MAXIMUM: The maximum shared per incident is $1,000,000. This limit is applied to a medical incident even if the medical expenses occurred in more than one Sharing Year. For acute medical illnesses, accidents, or injuries that have occurred during the first 60 days, sharing is limited to a maximum of $10,000 for all incidents combined.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY BILLS WILL BE PAID?

Working as a community, each member is equally responsible in their commitment to sharing. This commitment has been the primary success factor of Health Sharing for the past decade. You will be able to see how your contributions are being shared for the medical needs of other members, as well as how other member contributions are being shared with you for your medical needs.

DO ALL DOCTOR’S ACCEPT UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠? IF NOT, HOW DO I KNOW IF MY DOCTORS WILL ACCEPT IT?

Many doctors and providers will accept healthsharing since they are usually reimbursed at a quicker rate. Additionally, medical professionals will not have to deal with the hassles of insurance. Healthsharing eliminates the middle person and brings the patient and provider together for a quicker transaction of care.

Not withstanding the aforementioned, always ask your doctor in advance of receiving services. This is one reason you should always present your ID card at every visit so that providers are made aware of your affiliation with a healthshare.

If a doctor or provider does not accept healthsharing members, they should let you know upfront. Then you will have to pay the medical bills as a self-pay customer. This may also be beneficial for you because many medical professionals offer a large discount for self-pay patients. After you have paid your bills, you will be reimbursed by United Refuah to cover the costs of eligible procedures.

WHAT IF MY MEDICAL BILLS SURPASS THE LIMIT THAT UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠ PAYS TO MY PROVIDER?

For membership, United Refuah HealthShare℠ will share 80% of eligible medical bills up to the maximum co-share amount ($2,000 for single, $4,000 for a couple, or $8,000 for family) and after that, your bills are shared 100% up to $1,000,000 per incident after the Annual Preshare Amount. Any expenses exceeding this amount are not eligible for sharing.

So even if Heaven forbid, an individual had 3 separate medical incidents in one year, and each one had $950,000 of eligible medical expenses, so there were  $2,850,000 of eligible medical expenses, then each would be eligible for sharing because each incident was under the $1 Million cost. However it must be understood that if one of those incidents, which cost $950,000, were to have additional expenses of, say, $75,000 more in a subsequent year, then the total would now be $1,025,000.  Therefore, the $25,000 that is over the $1 Million would not be shared and would be the responsibility of the member.

Please note that additional limitations during the first 60 days of membership apply.

DOES UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠ FOLLOW THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA)?

Yes, healthsharing satisfies the ACA mandate since the ACA has a provision for healthsharing ministries such as ours. If you participate in United Refuah Health Sharing, you are exempt from any ACA penalties.

HOW DO I ARRANGE PAYMENT FOR MY MEDICAL BILLS VIA MY REFUAH SHAREFUND?

Make sure the medical bill is submitted to United Refuah, either by you or your provider. We will take care of the rest. Once they are received, United Refuah HealthShare℠ will initiate the payment process.

HOW ARE MY BILLS PAID?

Once a bill has been submitted to United Refuah HealthShare℠ we will first determine eligibility to ensure active membership and then begin processing for payment as applicable. If the Annual Preshare Amount has not been met, then the bill will be the member’s responsibility until the limit is reached. Once the limit is reached, United Refuah will share in the bills at a rate of 80% for the remainder of your membership year (based on enrollment date) up to the designated maximum limit as outlined in the Sharing Guidelines.

Upon payment, an Explanation of Sharing will be provided to help you understand how your bill was paid. If you still have questions, the member services line is available to aid you further. If you pay out of pocket for an eligible  medical procedure, you will be reimbursed directly by United Refuah HealthShare℠. Otherwise, we will pay the provider directly.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT MY MEDICAL HISTORY INFORMATION IS SECURE?

We take the security of your medical information very seriously. At United Refuah HealthShare℠ we understand that the relationship between our members and the organization is built on a foundation of trust and we will do everything we can to live up to that expectation.

Our team will keep your information secure and will only share what is necessary to take care of your needs. Similar to other healthcare organizations, United Refuah HealthShare℠ follows Federal regulations regarding HIPAA Compliance and the safeguarding of medical information.

WHO CAN BE CONSIDERED A DEPENDENT?

Dependents are able to be covered under your plan if they are a :

  • Unmarried Dependent Child
    • An unmarried dependent child may participate with his or her parent(s) or legal guardian(s) under a Sharing Membership up to and including age 19.
  • Disabled Dependent
    • An unmarried dependent is able to continue to be on the sharing plan if they are unable to be a full-time student because of illness or injury, physical or mental. A physician or qualified health professional may be required to verify this disability.
  • Full-time Student
    • An unmarried dependent child age 20-26 may participate in his or her parent/guardian’s Sharing Membership only if he/she is a full-time student or assigned to a multi-month internship.
  • Newborn
    • A newborn may be added as a dependent to a membership. Notification of birth should be submitted in writing within thirty days of the birth. Such notice is the responsibility of the existing Sharing Member.
  • Newly-Adopted
    • A newly-adopted child may be added as a dependent to a membership provided all medical criteria are met within the program for acceptance. Notification of adoption, including any and all medical history or existing conditions of the child, must be submitted in writing within thirty days after the finalized adoption. Such notice is the responsibility of the existing Sharing Member. Existing medical conditions disclosed for a dependent may result in a declination or a limitation on the types of needs eligible for sharing.

WHY WAS WELLCHECK℠ CREATED?

WellCheck℠ was created to improve the health and wellness of members and to assist them in providing education and techniques to help in achieving a healthy lifestyle. It is based upon the moral and spiritual belief that there is an inherent obligation for individuals to care for their bodies, to reduce the medical burden on the community and promote the best life possible for them and their families.

Many medical conditions can be mitigated, eliminated or even prevented outright through the introduction of certain lifestyle changes. In fact, some literature attributes up to 80% of disease to the effects of lifestyle.  Knowing this, members need to understand how they themselves can impact their health in a positive way.  That’s what WellCheck℠ is all about.

The goal of WellCheck℠ is to improve the member’s health by reducing or eliminating conditions affecting the member’s well-being. The program is ideal for those who have trouble with obesity, diabetes, hypertension and tobacco use.

Program highlights include:

  • Development of a health improvement plan with achievable goals
  • Coordination by a team which includes a health coach, nurse and case manager
  • Resources that motivate and inspire members to reach their goals
  • Monthly and quarterly check-ins with the team, including phone and email access
  • Healthy lifestyle resources including diet and exercise recommendations

WellCheck℠ participation is required for all Sharing Members. For WellCheck℠ Assist and WellCheck℠ Support members, a participation fee of either $45 or $65 per month is assessed in addition to the Monthly Share Amount.  Membership is for one year.  Members who reach their goals may continue at a lower level of WellCheck in the following year.

ONCE I HAVE JOINED UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠ AND ENROLLED IN WELLCHECK℠, HOW DO I USE WELLCHECK℠ TO IMPROVE MY HEALTH?

WellCheck℠ is a very personalized program designed in a customized way to help you meet goals towards a healthier life. You and your assigned coach will begin by discussing the reasons you joined the program, and start setting objectives towards the achievement of your goal. Your coach will guide you through the entire program and be there every step of the way to help you achieve the healthiest possible you.

Please keep in mind that as an individually customized program your participation and opinion throughout the process is critical in helping you and your coach develop the most effective strategies for making the changes that will lead to success.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A HEALTH COACH IN THE WELLCHECK℠ PROGRAM?

The purpose of the health coach is to provide members with a partner toward achievement of their health and lifestyle goals. We understand that when it comes to effective and sustained lifestyle change, it is tough to do it alone. The health coach is there to provide you with support, including morale, educational and clinical guidance, throughout your journey.

As part of the WellCheck℠ program, you will be required to communicate with your coach on a regular basis. More communication may be necessary, given the specific situation and as determined by you and your coach. However, you are encouraged to talk with your coach as much as required to help you achieve your goals. It’s your health and life, so feel free to use this resource as often as you see necessary. We’re here to help by providing tips, strategies, and advice for making the changes, but you remain at the forefront in helping to determine the best ways to employ them.

CAN MEMBERS GRADUATE INTO A BETTER HEALTH CATEGORY THROUGH WELLCHECK℠?

Yes, members can graduate to a better health category. Each year we reassess your health and ask you to retake the Health Profile Assessment in order for us to analyze your health for improvement. We will share stories anonymously in the regular newsletter (with your permission, of course) and other publications to congratulate those who have achieved their goals and encourage the entire community. While every WellCheck℠ instance sets a customized goal and timeline for progress, United Refuah HealthShare℠ expects to see significant improvement within the first year of enrollment for those in WellCheckSM Assist and/or Support.

WHY AM I REQUIRED TO ENROLL IN WELLCHECK℠ AS A PART OF MY MEMBERSHIP?

The short answer is to enhance your lifestyle towards health and wellness so that you can live a long, happy and fulfilling life. That’s ultimately what we want for our members.

Mandatory enrollment in the WellCheckSM Assist or Support program comes about when certain aspects of your health or environment reveal a condition that is well suited to health coaching. In this situation, your membership as a Sharing Member will be conditional upon your participation in these programs.  A health coach will reach out to you to get the program started.

This should not be viewed as punitive, as everyone needs help from time to time, but rather as an opportunity to put the necessary measures into place to prevent disease or its advancement. The purpose is to empower you towards the best possible life you can have.

I SMOKE AND/OR USE TOBACCO. DOES THAT MEAN I CAN STILL BE A PART OF UNITED REFUAH HEALTHSHARE℠?

Yes, use of nicotine (tobacco) products does not exclude you from becoming a member so long as you are willing to quit. Members are required to quit the use of these products within 6 months of enrollment and testing is required. Help is available through our WellCheck℠ program.

WHAT HEALTH REQUIREMENTS AM I EXPECTED TO ATTAIN WHILE IN WELLCHECK℠?

The WellCheck℠ program is customized for each individual and so requirements and timelines will vary based on the specific individual. You and your health coach will determine this from the onset and set up the milestones and timelines for your personalized program. You may even need to consult with your doctor for input. The health coaches recognize that lifestyle changes require time and will work with you to set objectives that are both reasonable and attainable over time.  However, keep in mind that incremental and continuous progress is important and vital toward the ultimate achievement of your goal.

HOW IS MY HEALTH IMPROVEMENT MONITORED IN ORDER FOR ME TO GRADUATE FROM WELLCHECK℠ ASSIST OR WELLCHECK℠ SUPPORT?

Once again, this will be determined together with your health coach at the onset of the program and may require input from others, such as your doctor. At the beginning of the program, a roadmap towards better health will be established to outline milestones for achievement and provide feedback on progress throughout the journey. This will include measures for defining the achievement of your ultimate goal of graduating from either the WellCheck℠ Assist or the WellCheck℠ Support programs.

Please remember that the ultimate goal of WellCheck℠ is to enhance your lifestyle to the point of not only achieving your goal but being able to sustain it indefinitely. So, programs may appear to be longer or more comprehensive than expected, in order to promote this concept.

AM I REQUIRED TO GO TO A CERTAIN AMOUNT/TYPE OF DOCTOR VISIT(S) OR LAB VISIT(S) WHILE IN THE WELLCHECK℠ ASSIST OR WELLCHECK℠ SUPPORT PROGRAMS?

This will depend on your situation and be outlined by your health coach. For instance, if smoking cessation is your goal, then nicotine tests will be required. The management of certain diseases, such as diabetes may require visits to a lab, doctor or other healthcare providers for input into the process.  One thing is clear, we will not short you on the resources required to try and help you achieve your goal of a healthier, happier, more productive life.

WHAT IF MORE THAN ONE PERSON UNDER MY MEMBERSHIP IS IN WELLCHECK℠ ASSIST OR WELLCHECK℠ SUPPORT?

There is no limit or penalty imposed for the number of people under a membership involved in WellCheck℠ Assist or WellCheck℠ Support. Ultimately, we want you to be as healthy as possible. This is why everyone is offered some type of WellCheck℠ program. A participant fee will be assessed along with your regular monthly share amount, depending upon the level of WellCheck℠ individuals are enrolled in.

There are three levels of WellCheck℠. WellCheck℠ Prime is for members with good health that will be coached on how to maintain their health as they age. There is no additional cost to WellCheck℠ Prime. In addition, there is a higher intensity program called WellCheck℠ Support and a moderate intensity program called WellCheck℠ Assist. WellCheck℠ Support costs $65 a month, whereas the WellCheck℠ Assist costs $45 per month. Please note that the main purpose of classifying these programs as such is to ensure that adequate resources are being directed to their success.

IS THERE A TIME LIMIT AS TO HOW LONG I HAVE TO BE ENROLLED IN WELLCHECK℠ ASSIST OR WELLCHECK℠ SUPPORT?

No. In fact, each member will always be enrolled in one of the WellCheck℠ programs.

Many times, especially with changes that are subtle and require a great amount of discipline, it is easy to backslide into old habits and routines without even realizing it. Or conditions can fluctuate to create variations that were not present during the initial assessment thereby throwing off management strategies. The aim of this longer-term program is to prevent these situations from happening and to ensure the sustained success of the participants for the remainder of their lives.

Graduation into a less intensive WellCheck℠ program is determined by United Refuah HealthShare℠ in consultation with the assigned health coach and others who may provide input during the process.

WHAT IF I DO NOT FOLLOW MY HEALTH COACH’S RECOMMENDATIONS?

Philosophically, we are not sure why any reasonable person would shy away from the WellCheck℠ program given its empowerment potential to create a life that is healthy, fulfilling, free from disease and less costly in the long run. The cost of enrollment in the program far under-weighs the pain, suffering and financial misery that would result from the diseases it is designed to mitigate and/or alleviate entirely. It is clearly worth the investment.

We would greatly question the fit of any individual who didn’t share the same mindset with this type of program, as this commitment to greater health is a key differentiator between healthsharing and the insurance market as a whole.

With that said, administratively and from an incentive perspective, United Refuah HealthShare℠ takes the WellCheck℠ program seriously and sees it as a major part of one’s commitment to the overall community and its ongoing health. Therefore, participants enrolled in the WellCheck℠ Assist or WellCheck℠ Support programs are required to be responsive to the guidance of their health coach and are required to make adequate progress towards their goal as a condition of membership. Failure to do so will be considered a violation of one’s membership agreement and may result in membership termination from the United Refuah HealthShare℠ community.

WHAT IS A CHARTER MEMBER?

The first group of members of United Refuah HealthShare become charter members for their first year of membership. A charter member and a regular member have key differences.  All regular members participate in a co-share amount once their annual pre-share amount is met.  The co-share amount is 20% of the bill up to their maximum co-share payment. The maximum co-share payment is $2,000 for a single membership, $4,000 for a couple membership, and $8,000 for a family membership. The charter membership waives this 20% co-share for the first 12 months.
